I am so excited to teach and look forward to clay classes together! I have a BFA in Ceramics, and have taught children and youth for 15 years in summer camps, preschools, homeschool co-ops and church Sunday school. I was an assistant art director at an art center in Davidson, North Carolina for two years. I've taught out of my home studio for the past three years here in Chapel Hill, and previously 2 years in KC. I thoroughly enjoy having a community of friends, neighbors & artists. I love teaching these clay classes and look forward to having you and your kids in my studio!
We'll learn how to slip n'score, hand build, pottery wheel basics, how to glaze and the process of kiln firing. Kids love to stop by the kiln on the way out of class to see where our clay projects are fired!
Clay Sessions: we work with wet clay the first section and the last 1-2 weeks are saved for glazing. Kids can make one class project and one free clay project per class.
*Workshops will be in two-part. The first class will be wet clay, handbuilding and the pottery wheel. The second class will be glazing.
Class fee includes the clay, tools, glazing and both kiln firings.
*THE PHOTO FOR THE CLASS IS NOT THE PROJECT FOR THAT CLASS. I always offer a few choices of projects so that kids are excited for what we're building! I always give options for different ages and that appeal to boys and girls. So if there's a butterfly, I'll also have a spider suggestion. Or a fairy house? gnome home! mkkkk!
My studio is above the garage at 489 Beacon Ridge Blvd. We meet on the driveway a few minutes before class. If we're already upstairs, please send your child up.
This is my home & if that doesn't settle well for germ sharing, it might not be the class for you or your kids! In signing up for class & sending your child to my home, you agree that the responsibility of covid safety is shared. By signing up for class, you understand the risks & liability of COVID-19 & variants. You release me and anyone else in class from responsibility of illness from Covid. You agree to not sue me or my family! It's a crazy time we live in & my goal is to keep everyone safe!!! In accordance with local mandates, masks are optional.
Because of the nature of group classes & firing schedules, I do not offer refunds or make-up classes. I'm sorry in advance! Please plan to attend the class you sign-up for. Thanks!
Thanks so much for the opportunity to teach you and your child clay. I greatly value our community and the ability to teach art to other humans! I adore clay and the creative process and look forward to sharing my studio space together!
